When an item is brought into the workshop we would aim to put together an estimate within four to six weeks, if we need additional estimates from outside the workshop e.g. case restoration, dial restoration, this may take longer. Please be advised that during the estimate process we may need to disassemble the clock, we do not guarantee its function unless work is carried out, even if it was functioning prior to the estimate. Estimates will be sent out via email unless otherwise agreed and are valid for 12 months. If the work is proceeded the timepiece will be added to our waiting list and these are worked on in chronological order. Once the work is complete we will be in contact to arrange an appointment for collection or delivery. We ask that once work is complete, clocks are picked up within two months unless otherwise agreed, due to space constraints within the workshop.

If you decide not to proceed with the repair we would also ask that all clocks are collected within two months of the estimate being received. Whilst we are happy to receive clocks through the post we cannot return them via post, in the event that return posting is the only option this would void our guarantee. We do not take on watches from abroad due to issues with customs regulations and an inability to offer our guarantee.

Whilst every effort is made to repair each timepiece effectively, we are working with mechanical objects and by their very nature there are times when additional work may need to be carried out after the clock is returned to you. For this reason we offer a 12 month guarantee on the work carried out as per our estimate. We are happy to take on work from outside our local area however, should the clock need to come back for additional work, the responsibility for this would fall to the customer.

We do not guarantee mainsprings, accidental damage, damage during transportation or damage due to misuse. If you would like full instructions on how to care for your timepiece or have any questions about its functions please do get in touch and we will be happy to help.
Please be advised that, whilst every effort is made to ensure a successful repair, we are sometimes restricted with what we can achieve due to age and quality of the item we are working on.
For example, a clock with a cylinder escapement may not achieve accurate timekeeping.

In order to try and ensure timekeeping is as accurate as possible, clocks are tested and regulated in the workshop for a minimum of three weeks, this period can be a lot longer dependent on the clock movement and the work carried out. Your clock may need some regulation at home and some clocks are quite affected by temperature change. If you would like instructions on how to regulate your clock please get in touch with us in the workshop.

We offer a delivery and set up service on Longcase Clocks and Grandmother clocks, this is quoted for on an individual basis dependent on area.  If we are required to re-visit due to issues with the function of the clock this would be offered free of charge under our guarantee of 12 months, however if the issue is caused due to accidental damage or misuse, this will not be covered and would be charged accordingly.

We have a team of clockmakers and watchmakers in the workshop, if you would like more details about the specialist who worked on your timepiece please get in touch via phone or email.

Should you wish to make a complaint about a service we have provided please get in touch with one of the team in the office on 01993 772123 or at theclockworkshop@gmail.com

When an item is brought into the workshop we would aim to put together an estimate within four to eight weeks, if we need additional estimates from outside the workshop e.g. case restoration, dial restoration, this may take longer. Please be advised that during the estimate process we may need to disassemble the watch, we do not guarantee its function unless work is carried out, even if it was functioning prior to the estimate. We do not guarantee mainsprings, waterproofing, accidental damage or damage due to misuse. If you would like full instructions on how to care for your watch or have any questions about its functions please do get in touch and we will be happy to help where we can.

We offer a battery replacement and fitting service for quartz watches. The battery is guaranteed for a year, however, we do not offer a guarantee as to the function of the movement,

Our workshop does not have any brand accreditations. This gives us the ability to work on many types of watches and watches that have been turned away elsewhere. Please be advised that if your watch is currently under warranty elsewhere, bringing it to us for assessment/repair may void this.

In order to try and ensure timekeeping is as accurate as possible, watches are tested and regulated in the workshop for a minimum of three weeks, this period can be a lot longer dependant on the movement and the work carried out.

We post all watches via Royal Mail Special delivery service. Where possible we will use our foam lined postage boxes and will always mark the parcels as fragile. We charge £15 per watch for this service to cover postage, packing and time taken. We normally insure all watches up to £1000, if you would like us to insure your watch for a higher amount please do let us know. On occasion there are watches that our watchmakers will advise should not be posted due to their mechanism, in this instance we would ask that the customer comes to collect the watch from the workshop.

We do not take on watches from abroad due to issues with customs regulations and an inability to offer our guarantee.

Please be advised that, whilst every effort is made to ensure a successful repair, we are sometimes restricted with what we can achieve due to age and quality of the item we are working on. For example, some watches were built with no shock protection and this is not something that can be added retrospectively.
